We’re a small crew, and that’s on purpose. When you call Calder Gate Repair Fort Lauderdale, the person who answers knows your neighborhood, and the tech who shows up has probably worked on a gate just like yours within the last week. We cover everything from Coral Ridge to Victoria Park to Sailboat Bend, and most of us live within twenty minutes of the shop. No layers, no callbacks to some distant office. Just gate people who show up, figure out what’s wrong, and tell you the truth about what it’ll take to fix it.
Styles & brands we work with

Our People
Nico Alvarez, Owner
Nico started with a service van and a stubborn FAAC swing arm on a house in Rio Vista that three other companies had walked away from. He got it running in an afternoon, and that’s been the standard ever since. He’s factory-trained on LiftMaster, FAAC, BFT, Linear, Viking, Ghost Controls, DoorKing, Elite, and Mighty Mule openers, and he still does ride-alongs on hard diagnostics. When he’s not chasing a gate fault, he’s usually arguing with his smoker about brisket. If you’re in Fort Lauderdale and your gate gives us trouble on the first trip, Nico’s the one who makes the call that the second visit is free under our 365-Day Done Right Promise.
Danny R., Lead Technician
Danny’s been with Calder for six years and handles most of the heavy-hitting repair calls across Fort Lauderdale: snapped gate hinges, dead opener boards, misaligned tracks on slide gates. He’s the person you want on the phone if you’re describing a noise you can’t identify. Danny trained directly under Nico and specializes in LiftMaster and Viking operators, the two brands we see most in older gated communities along Las Olas and Harbordale. Outside work, he restores old motorcycles. He’s still embarrassed about the time he spent forty minutes diagnosing a dead opener that turned out to be a tripped GFCI, and he’ll tell you that story himself if you ask.
Maria S., Service Coordinator
Maria is the voice on the phone. When you call Calder Gate Repair Fort Lauderdale at (754) 354-2542, you get Maria or someone sitting right next to her, not a voicemail, not a chatbot. She’s been dispatching gate crews in Broward County since 2018 and has an uncanny memory for repeat customers and the quirks of their properties. She’s the reason techs arrive with a live, trackable arrival time instead of a vague four-hour window. Maria keeps the schedule honest and the written quotes going out before a single tool comes off the truck. Off the clock, she runs a small side business making hot sauce, which explains the shelf of bottles in the office.
Leo T., Apprentice Technician
Leo joined the crew two years ago after finishing a technical program in low-voltage systems. He handles most of the troubleshooting on safety eyes and edge sensors, the parts that keep an electric gate from closing on a car or a person. Danny’s been mentoring him on gate opener repair, particularly Ghost Controls and Mighty Mule units common in newer Fort Lauderdale townhomes. Leo is the one who runs before-and-after photos at every job and makes sure the digital invoice goes out so you can pay from a link, part of The Relay Standard we follow on every visit. He’s also the reason the shop van always has a spare phone charger. You’re welcome.
One Standard, Every Job
Every Calder location operates independently, but the standard doesn’t bend. That means a written price before any work starts. Not a ballpark, not a “we’ll see.” A number you agree to at the door. It means a written guarantee on every repair. If the fix fails within 365 days, Calder returns at no charge. That’s the 365-Day Done Right Promise, and it’s stated in writing on every job. It means the tech you meet is background-checked and in uniform, with a live arrival time you can track. And it means the person who answers the phone knows how to help: booking, updates, troubleshooting. Every call, every job, every gate, across the Fort Lauderdale location and the entire Relay Home Co. network.
