We stock and install BFT-compatible hinge and roller replacements across Fort Lauderdale, with most jobs running $185 – $420 installed depending on the gate’s weight and how many hinges or rollers need swapping. Same-day service is available when we have the part on the truck, and we’ll confirm the exact price in writing before anything gets unbolted. Most owners discover the failure first as a scrape or a sag: the gate still opens, but it fights the opener on the way, and eventually the motor starts tripping its thermal overload because it’s working twice as hard as it should.
Which BFT Models This Applies To
Most of the BFT gate openers we replace hinges and rollers for are mounted on swing gates in the Deimos, Kustos, and Icaro series, though the part itself is rarely BFT-branded. Hinges and rollers are almost always supplied by the gate fabricator, not the opener manufacturer, which creates a compatibility question most homeowners don’t expect. Here’s the thing we run into on Las Olas and in the older neighborhoods east of Federal Highway: a BFT opener will happily drive a gate with worn hardware right up until the day it can’t, and then the failure looks like an opener problem when it’s actually the hinge bearings seizing from salt air. Identify what you have by measuring the hinge leaf spacing center-to-center and the roller wheel diameter. Stock BFT-compatible replacements in Fort Lauderdale typically run 100mm to 150mm wheel diameters on adjustable brackets, and we keep the common sizes on the truck. For OEM versus aftermarket: BFT’s own gate hardware line is solid but often has a two-week lead time from distributors. Quality aftermarket equivalents in 304 or 316 stainless hold up as well or better in our coastal humidity, and we’ve installed enough of both to know which brands won’t pit after one rainy season.

Signs Your BFT Hinge & Roller Replacement Is Failing
- The gate sags visibly at the latch end. This is almost always a worn top hinge pin or loose hinge bolts. The opener still thinks it’s moving a balanced gate, but it’s dragging the latch side across the ground, and that’s what wears out the motor.
- You hear a scrape or grind when the gate moves. Roller wheels on sliding gates lose their bearings first, especially near the coast where fine sand and salt get into everything. The wheel stops rolling and starts sliding.
- The opener trips its thermal cutoff mid-cycle. BFT openers are sensitive to amperage draw. A stiff hinge or seized roller adds enough resistance that the motor overheats and shuts down until it cools. The opener isn’t failing; the hardware is.
- The gate pauses or jerks at the same spot every time. That’s a flat-spotted roller or a hinge with a cracked bearing race. Same spot, every cycle, because the damaged part hits the same wear point each pass.
- You can see daylight between the hinge plate and the gate frame. Salt corrosion in Fort Lauderdale eats the hardware and the surrounding metal. Once the hinge plate starts pulling loose, the gate’s weight is hanging on fewer and fewer fasteners.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
For a standard single swing gate with two or three worn hinges, expect $185 – $320 installed. A sliding gate with two roller assemblies plus a guide replacement runs $240 – $420. The spread depends on gate weight, whether we’re replacing the hinge plate or just the pin and bushings, and whether the existing hardware is welded or bolted. You’ll see every dollar before we start: parts listed separately, labor listed separately, and the total is the number on the invoice. Every hinge and roller replacement carries our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if the repair fails within a year, we come back at no charge and make it right. Most jobs are done in under two hours, and you’ll get a digital invoice you can pay from a link when we finish.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely check two things without calling anyone: look at whether the hinge bolts are visibly loose, and look at whether the roller wheels spin when the gate is off the track or propped. That’s diagnosis, not repair. The danger point is the spring-loaded closure hardware and the gate’s own weight. A BFT-driven swing gate can weigh 300 to 800 pounds, and once a hinge pin comes out, that weight has to go somewhere, usually onto the person underneath it. We’ve seen homeowners try to prop a gate on a jack stand and wind up in urgent care. Replacing hinges and rollers safely means supporting the gate, releasing tension on any torque springs, and re-aligning the opener’s travel limits afterward so the BFT board doesn’t fault out. That’s a job for a trained tech with the right stand. If you’re in Fort Lauderdale and want an honest look at whether you need one hinge or four, call (754) 354-2542 and we’ll put a written price in front of you.
FAQs
Expect 4 – 7 years for standard galvanized hardware and 8 – 12 years for stainless, with coastal properties closer to the Intracoastal falling at the low end. Salt air and repeated afternoon storms accelerate pitting and bearing wear. Call us at (754) 354-2542 if your gate is past the 5-year mark and you’re hearing new noises.
Sometimes. A hinge pin and bushing kit can extend the life of an otherwise solid hinge, and a roller wheel can be swapped without replacing the bracket. But once the bearing race is cracked or the hinge plate is corroded through, a full replacement is cheaper than nursing it along. We’ll tell you which path makes sense before we quote anything.
Most single-gate jobs take 90 minutes to two and a half hours. A full hinge replacement with welded plates or a heavy double gate can take half a day. We’ll give you a clear time window when you book, and you’ll get a live arrival time on the day of service.
Yes. Our trucks in Fort Lauderdale carry the common 100mm, 120mm, and 150mm roller wheel sizes and adjustable hinge sets in both galvanized and stainless. If your gate needs a less common size, we’ll measure it on the first visit and schedule the install as soon as the part lands, usually within a few days. Call (754) 354-2542 and tell us what’s on your gate now; we’ll tell you if it’s a truck-stock item before we even dispatch.
